Lifestyle Factors in Multiple Sclerosis: stress sleep acohol smoking and alcohol

22th of March 2018, Third ParadigMS Symposium. The ParadigMS Foundation and the Belgian Study Group for Multiple Sclerosis (BSGMS) organised an interactive learning and networking experience. Here you can consult the slide deck of one of the three lectures that were on the agenda: Lifestyle in MS

ABSTRACT
There is a complicated, bi-directional relation between lifestyle factors and multiple sclerosis (MS). Several studies examined the relationship between these factors and the development and/or worsening of MS, since better understanding of this relationship may pave the ways for possible preventive strategies. Patients have always sought ways to exercise some control on their illness, and lifestyle factors could be among the modifiable risk factors in MS.

In this presentation, we discuss associations between MS and sleeping abnormalities (e.g. sleep loss or deprivation), psychological stress, smoking, and alcohol use.
